About Coastal Midwifery and Lactation

As a mum of 3 kids, Registered Midwife for over 15 years, and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) for nearly 10 years - I have observed, listened to, worked with and experienced many challenges in pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, and parenting.

Am I still learning after all these years? YES!! I pride myself in being a life-long learner; in life, parenting, and especially in the birth world.

I am also a Neuroprotective Developmental Care Practitioner (NDC/Possums approach) and an AcuneedlingTM practitioner (a midwife who can perform acupuncture in my scope of practice!). I find these extra skills have added value to my midwifery practice and holistic health philosophy.

I have been there with families in their most vulnerable moments, and seen them through their story to the other side. The power of this still floors me, and I am honoured and humbled in these moments of trust.

I value being honest, kind, and gentle - knowing that communication is key to an positive experience. Also ensuring that my knowledge and skills enable a positive experience of families, not hinder or create a barrier for them; whilst using evidence and research to shape practice and information-giving to families.

This has brought me to launch Coastal Midwifery and Lactation, with the idea of creating this as part of a holistic, wellness and gentle parenting community.

On a personal note, my family and I have settled in Millowl (Phillip Island); and are loving our new island life, beach time, and the wild weather! Getting used to the birdlife already!

I am excited to connect with the local community, families and other birth workers, so please reach out for support or share.
